Which version are you watching?
Did you know, Starz filmed two versions of S4? Which one are you watching?
The one where Claire is so affected by her personal life (especially her false engagement), she is unable to act and is miserable and bored? Or the version where Claire is happily pottering around her new home, gardening, mixing her potions and enjoying being with her family and giving other characters their time in the spotlight?
Are you watching the sexless, no-chemistry version with Jamie and Claire, where they have lost all passion and become middle-aged and boring and where Claire looks like Jamie’s mother? Or the version where Jamie and Claire show love by adoring looks, touches and kisses and are busy building their first home together?
Are you watching Sophie getting Bree so wrong with her terribly accent, high-pitched voice and totally wrong physical appearance? Or the version where Sophie grows into the role beautifully, is complex, confused and portraying Bree as a fierce, brave and courageous woman who has already gone through more than just the stones?
Are you watching the version where Roger is nothing but a complete arse who makes ridiculous demands on Bree and behaves like a total twit? Or the version where a young historian makes a mistake or two in the way he tries to show his love, is headstrong (as is Bree) but shows staying power, courage and proof of his true love by staying in the past and fights against all odds?
Are you watching the version where keeping Murtagh is just another reason to mangle the book storyline? Or the version where we rejoice Murtagh’s survival and are happy Jamie has someone watching his back and someone to rely on?
Are you watching the version where LJG is back and having sex in a semi-public place unlike the book where he more subtlely is seen leaving the slave quarters? Or the version where the storyline is made clear so no one has any doubt what the storyline means or can in anyway be misunderstood?
I’m watching the version where the episodes whizz by in what feels like seconds. The version where Claire is not the centre of every episode and generously let’s others take centre stage and where we see Jamie and the rest of the family shine too. For me it’s the best - and I’m glad I have been given the privilege of seeing the true, excellent and fantastically acted Outlander and not this other version that so many “fans” have had to toletate🙀
Finally, if you are a “fan” and critique Outlander and then inform your readers you haven’t watched it since S1 please reassess your qualifications to give an opinion on S2,3 or 4! 😡
I’m watching the good version that celebrates the entire Fraser family, even amid all the chaos. I’m watching my favorite season to date. I’m watching actors grow and expand their roles and talent.
Great post!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Season 4 is the best season since Season 1. It’s bloody fantastic.
